My work is based on the megalithic carvings in the sacred mounds in Co. Meath Ireland, Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth. From the moment I saw their spirals, circles, and diamonds, they held great power and inspiration for me. Many have tried to decipher what has been skillfully carved into the stones, but I find the more I look at them and work with them, their meanings flow and change.

My paintings start with a black canvas, as I see the light, the energy of these symbols illuminating the darkness, just as on the Winter Solstice, the sun rises and illuminates the chamber in Newgrange.

My hope is that my work captures just some of the light energy given off by these sites and that whoever views them will take a little of that energy with them. To see all my work visit http://eireart.com
