OK, these words (among a plethora of others) bugged my dad years ago - whenever he heard them on television, on the radio, in everyday conversation, he was likely to throw down his paper and erupt in a tirade on the abuse of the English language. A suit is comprised of clothes you wear - a suite is a set of rooms, or a set of furniture that goes in that room - you don't wear a suite, and you don't have a suit full of furniture. That sort of thing.
I find that, much as my father did, I react violently, with a highly visible cringe, whenever such abuses confront me. I sold houses for awhile - I was a Realtor, not a ree-la-tor. Despite common usage, when you dunk a Granny Smith into a melted Kraft product, you are having CARAMEL apples, not KARMUL. The two most common causes of these errors are speaking too fast and not reading enough. English does have spelling rules, difficult though that may seem, and spelling often helps in pronunciation. Careful speech and avid reading are keys to good spelling and pronunciation.
I could rant forever... or just put my feelings into word/graphics so that others like me can wear/post/display/use this guide around friends/relatives/coworkers/assembled idiots to subtly advise them of their lack of education - or simply get some of the heavier ones and strike them soundly over the noggin with same...
