This is My Story, the songs of Dr. Henry L. Dugat, represents one Liberty man’s journey in service to the community whose family’s roots go back over one hundred years in Liberty County. The songs as recorded on this CD were selected for their historic value to our community and represent the way they have been played for decades and may soon be lost to time. They are part of the history of our community. During every graduation ceremony at Liberty Training High School the Negro National Anthem was played and sung first, long before The Star Spangled Banner appeared latter in the program. Songs like “Jesus Getting Us Ready for That Great Day,” go back to the early roots of the black church and the days of slavery in the southern United States. Some of these songs you may never have heard but are sure to get your foot tapping to the beat of the music. The songs recorded on this CD are historic capturing and preserving a time that is quickly vanishing, and represents a part of the legacy of the church in Liberty County, Texas.
