The Web Blog of our encounter with acute Leukemia
Synopsis
This booklet is simply a reproduction of the web site log blog that I created to keep family and friends up to date on the progress of my wife, Trish, as she confronted acute leukemia. I have made no attempt to create a narrative or more formal book out of the content or improve the writing in any way. Though I did run spellcheck. At some point, I may yet make some time to write more formally about the experience, as many of you have urged. This is simply an easy to print and read format of the web log for those who have requested it. The information in this blog should not be used to base medical care decisions on and is my best interpretation of medical information provided by my wifes caregivers. Many people have told me that our ability to share this experience has been helpful to them or to people they know who have started similar circumstances, since we started our climb. For me, it was amazing to watch my wife meet this disaster head-on, and survive this 150 day detour to her life. We now wait and pray. She has a 50-50 chance of relapse. Relapse most often occurs in the first ten months after the disease is put into remission. If she relapses, well head back to Johns Hopkins for more chemo and a bone marrow transplant. Ill continue to post updates to the web site, though not as frequently.
