Story of a coal miners son and his tale of leaving behind a bleak future in a Yorkshire mining village to a land of opportunity in Australia.

Paperback book

Synopsis

This is a story of a Yorkshire Miner's son who followed in the footsteps of Captain Cook. Dennis Street takes us on a journey through his life, one which starts in WWII in South Yorkshire, England, in a small coal mining village. Times were bleak enough for most people, the coal mine wasn't a promising prospect for work with the long shifts and dangers that went along with such an occupation. With the advice of his father he looked to greener pastures, to a place far afield with plenty of promise, a place where his family could grow up with better opportunities and cleaner air. With that he moved to Australia with his new wife where they started their new life with much optimism. Follow the story of how a coal miner's son took a chance and bravely ventured to a land down under and share his experiences of a land of great opportunity in a totally different lifestyle which ultimately led him to one of the finest coastal spots in the country. Take the journey with him "From Coal Dust to Pacific Beaches" which is his tale of life in a mining village, its trials and triumphs to the idyllic setting in the south pacific.
