Lilith was a dark goddess in ancient Near-Eastern mythology; the mother of demons and vampires, and supposedly the first bride of Adam. She was expelled from Eden for refusing to lie under him, it is said. Because this took place before the creation of Eve and before the fall of man, Lilith remained immortal.
