LucasWorks was started by Lauren Padgett, mother of two terrific children, one of whom (Lucas) is autistic and mentally retarded. Lauren and her husband, Alan, saw the need for both autism awareness and daily living products to help Lucas, and the eventual need for Lucas to have employment. They decided to put these ideas together, and LucasWorks was born under the philosophy, "It works for Lucas and it gives Lucas work!"

Students from our school district's Vocational Training program come to work at LucasWorks. They work hard assembling, packaging and labeling our products, learning important job skills while they're here. As our business grows, our goal is to employ people with autism and other disabilities, beginning with our own Lucas.

Our new CafePress shop is devoted to offering some new ideas for autism awareness and special education causes. This gives us a terrific way to test our market and decide what products we can train our workers to produce. From jewelry to t-shirts, these people with autism are learning amazing skills thanks to your orders!
