Susan studied arts and social sciences in Pennsylvania and Maryland as well as in Smithsonian programs. Although rooted in traditional figurative watercolor in the 1980s she began work on a mixed media series which won awards in exhibit and resulted in a solo show.Following that exhibit, Susan juried at the Torpedo Factory Arts Center in Alexandria Virginia, was featured in DC area media and became associated with a local gallery. In 1996 she was recruited to prepare children's art for permanent installation in Shady Grove Adventist Hospital's children's unit.In 2001 she again branched out, beginning work on a luminous new series of mixed media pieces which can be exhibited in shadowbox frames as well as being worn as adornment. Susan now focuses on mixed media pieces. Limited edition prints and shadow box pieces are the latest incarnation of her art. Her work is primarily sold from her studio and in small venues. She feels that the personal relationships she develops with collectors is an important part of her work and valuable to her as an artist.
