A newcomer to an an SCA meeting or event is often confused about "who is in charge." In the SCA we don't use the traditional titles, such as President, Secretary, Treasurer and so forth. Instead we use Medieval titles, such as Seneschal, Exchequer, Herald, Marshal, Chirurgeon and so forth, and divide the duties of running the group to these various officers who have responsibility for a specific area, and then an "overall" officer who coordinates the efforts of the other officers, and ensures that they are able to handle the duties assigned to them.
