In the summer of 2002, my family spent two months in Munich living in an apartment. We took many day trips to the surrounding southern Bavaria. While my kids enjoyed King Ludwig's fairy-tale castles, I was drawn to the painted buildings of small towns, especially those in Oberammergau, known as Germany's wood-carving capital. Some of my photos here captured the colorful walls and windows, one of them taking you to the inside of a wood-carving studio.
For the reunited capital Berlin, I'm sharing with you images of the remaining Berlin Wall. As shown in these photos, the traces the Wall has left may lead to one's imagination of what used to be there, how many people lost their lives over it, in this historical city that was once divided.
