In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, George W. Bush headed down to New Orleans to view the damage. Much backslapping and handshaking ensued. Many cutsey Bush-nicknames were bandied around. It was then that Bush issued his infamous proclamation, "Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job."
More than two months after the storm, it's clear that the only people doing a heck of a job down here are the residents who've returned, the relief workers, and the many wonderful people who've donated their time and money to the rebuilding of this city.
If you're one of them, then you're doing a heck of a job!
I wish I could say that all proceeds from sales go to a relief program, but I'm only working part time now and trying to make ends meet in creative ways. I can promise you that every penny I spend in this city goes to local merchants-- also struggling to rebuid and get by. I don't shop at Wal*Mart, I don't get my coffee at Starbucks. (not that there any Starbucks open in the city right now)
Thanks for stopping by!
