Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) occurs when the diaphragm fails to fully form, allowing abdominal organs into the chest cavity and preventing lung growth. CDH occurs as often as Spina Bifida and Cystic Fibrosis, affecting 1 in every 2500 babies. The survival rate of CDH is 50%. The cause is unknown.
