This artwork is based on the Mayan Fifth Sun. The Mayan calendar indicates that after the end of the era of “El Quinto Sol” there will be a birth of a sixth sun. The sun Face is superimposed over the bluish background painting of the same name shown at The National Museum of Mexican Art for a Day of the Dead exhibit. It was the piece selected to be exhibited at the entrance to the art gallery.
