Santa Fe is my idea of a classic western Blue Town. What do I mean by this? Well, Blue is not primarily about party affiliation, although most blue people lean Democratic. Blue is a state of mind: creative, free-thinking, liberal, rejecting dogma, open to difference and new ideas, affirming love, rejecting hate.
Blue is also a state of community: diverse, welcoming, compassionate, cooperative and progressive, with a commitment to education, arts, science and reason. Though it's a thousand miles from the ocean, there's Blueness all over Santa Fe.
Celebrate and encourage the blue character of Santa Fe with a bumper sticker, button, refrigerator magnet, shirt or poster. Spread the word, and you'll find all sorts of blue-minded people coming out of the nooks and crannies.
