Bluebrook Art & Photography is a family-run store by two artists, Sean and Tamara.
For Sean, photography is a medium for sharing how he sees the world. For this reason, he likes to focus on subjects that are part of everyday life, and may be familiar to the viewer - streets, woods, snow, grass, subways, etc - but shown in a different way through the camera, as Sean shares his perception of beauty as part of the tapestry of daily life. Sean is also interested in astronomy and space exploration, and specializes in some esoteric types of photography such as night images of starry skies and close-up images of space launches.
For Tamara, photography is a way of capturing arrangements of aesthetic objects - buttons, yarn, wool, sewing, quilting, weaving, appliques - brought together in surprising ways to create a fantasy landscape full of possibilities, like snapshots from dreams. Tamara is also interested in biology, and spices up her selection with close-up photography of the biological world.
On occasion, Sean and Tamara collaborate to make something that integrates both of their efforts. Sometimes Sean photographs Tamara's three-dimensional constructions, and sometimes Tamara uses one of Sean's photographs as the basis for creative post-processing, creating something unexpected. In addition, Tamara manages the process of product design - deciding which products are the best match for an image.
