Blazoned > BLAZONED Originals > Transylvania
The name Transylvania literally means "the land beyond the forest." Though it was made famous by Bram Stoker in his novel
Dracula, Transylvania is an area rich in history and has long been a crossroads for different cultures. The coat of arms contains a representation of a black falcon and a sun and moon on a blue background, both important in Hungarian culture. On a gold background it contains seven red towers, which represent the seven cities founded by German immigrants in the Middle Ages.
