Once upon a time a little girl who was bullied decided that it was too painful to go on. Like many other bullied children, she was scared and tired and felt alone. One day she decided that rather than do harm to herself or others, she would give up her identity and build a new life. She changed her name and moved far away from home.
For many years she carried on with a new name, doing her best to forget the past, and to stuff down her feelings. She got so good at that, that she forgot most of her childhood. All she ever felt was a strange, aching hole in her chest.
At the darkest time in her life, some kind angels came along and helped the girl who once was Staci to realize that the pain in her life came from her past. And she realized sadly that like everyone else, she had abandoned little Staci.
Maybe little Staci can't come back now ... too much has changed. But you and I can remember her by reaching out to prevent bullying and peer abuse. Staci's Place is dedicated to that cause. The "No Bullies" Products sold on this page send a clear message that peer abuse and bullying isn't "cute", "cool", or "kids being kids", bullying is abuse. If you run an anti-bullying page, and want to use the "No Bullies" logo on your site, feel free to use it, all I ask is you link back to this page.
I also highly recommend that everyone on all sides of the anti-abuse movement check out Ross Quinn's book Controlling Others for Love and Profit. This book is not about bullying or peer abuse per se, it's more about controlling one's own reactions during stressful experiences. I believe it contains the first step of the solution. We can't stop the bullying until we change the culture that tolerates abuse. We can't change all of "them", but we can change ourselves. I am proud to say I edited the first edition of this wonderful book.
This section is dedicated to Staci and to all victims of bullying of peer abuse. As a survivor of bullying, I have come to realize how deeply this has affected my life. The proceeds from sales of t-shirts and gift items on this page go towards supporting my own anti-bullying efforts. If you are the target of peer abuse or bullying, there are resources on Staci's Place, and you may email me at any time for advice or suggestions for your specific case.
