What's a Beeper?
If you've never heard that term before it's a person with Bipolar Disorder. An affectionate nick name we call ourselves. It's used a lot in online forums and chat room. It's taken from the BP initials. BP with an er's added to the end. So you get Beepers. It's kind of a fun thing, a secret thing and all the online groups I know about use it. When I wear a Beeper t-shirt, people look at me really puzzled! Some ask and some don't. I usually look at them puzzled and ask... you don't know what beepers are? And usually I don't tell them. I'f I'm weaing a bipolar t-shirt I always tell them if they ask me questions. But beepers is our little secret and it's a fun little secret!
