Founded as Gay, Lesbian & Bisexual Veterans of America on 17 May 1990 in Wash., DC, AVER is a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender founded veterans advocacy and service organization dedicated to the equal and fair treatment of all service members and veterans while honoring the service and sacrifices of all service members and veterans. Although AVER was founded by LGBT veterans, membership is open to anyone who supports our missions and goals, LGBT and "Straight Allies" alike, and does not in any way suggest or imply sexual orientation or gender identity.
