Actors for Autism is an amazing organization that has social skills groups and camps in acting, filmmaking and animation for children on the spectrum. This place is fabulous. My son loves the animation camp and has gone for two years. Everyone who works here is great with the kids and it promotes communication, independence, and pride in children.

For Californians, you simply must visit The Disability Rights Website - which is the motherlode of advocacy, information and advice to help you get your child services. They've saved me many a time. I especially STRONGLY urge parents to download the Special Education Rights and Responsiblities to download, print and use. This has sample letters and all the disability laws that you may need to use to get your child appropriate help and educational services that he/she is entitled to.

PAUSE4Kids provides children in Ventura County, CA with autism funding to experience recreational activities, help fund therapies, provides advocacy training for parents and funds programs like free golf clinics and more.

Connecticut Autism Spectrum Resource Center -- Great articles, info and advocacy and you don't have to live in CT to benefit from specialists from all over. Check out the Articles to Read and you'll find a wealth of information about the law, interventions, sensory processing issues and all sorts of things pertaining to PDD, from soup to nuts.

Guidelines for Treatment and Intervention by Ami Klin and Fred Volkmar of the Yale Child Study Center, including a menu that offers a wealth of information from the world renown clinic where they are doing some pretty incredible research and have some great resources for all Autistic Spectrum Disorders (check out the Let's Face It Study to find out about how playing computer games can strengthen the connections in the autistic brain).
