The Ai in Aikido!

Now, more than ever, is the time to bring peace and harmony to the world.


Aikido was meant to be a path of peace, harmony, and compassion. The "ai" of "aikido" and the "ai" of "love" are not the same kanji, but it may be said that aikido without love is not really aikido! (Read about a famous aikido story here.)

Many of the products below show the kanji for "ai ki do" (path of aligned spirit) and "ai no michi" (path of love). This is a great example of how Japanese pronounces one kanji two different ways, and two different kanji the same way!
