Horse Slaughter in America is one of the most barbaric practices every perpetrated by man. Contrary to widely held beliefs about horse slaughter, 92% of horses slaughtered in America are young - often only 6 months old -, healthy, viable, sound and rideable, and pregnant. Horses routinely are raised specifically for slaughter on the vast acreages of ranches in the west and midwest. Others are sold by unsuspecting owners thinking their horse is going to a wonderful new home. Upwards of 50,000 horses are stolen each year to be sold by the theives to the slaughter plants. Still other horses find themselves in the horrific circumstances known as "slaughter pipelines" where they are sold at low level auctions, stored in deplorable conditions on feedlots, and then shipped to slaughter in extremely inhumane circumstances. American horses are daily shipped to Canada and Mexico where they meet even more cruel and unspeakable treatment. The following Designs are offered to help increase awareness of this most heinous practice, and to encourage participation in the political process to ban horse slaughter in America, and to ban the transport of American horses across international borders for slaughter.
