Design Name: Peregrine Falcon TWO by LadyWhoLovesBirds.com
Description: Original is a watercolor depicting a Peregrine Falcon feeding three baby chicks. Multi-colored piece. Peregrine Falcons are birds of prey.UC Santa Cruz has a Predatory Bird Research Group Program which studies the peregrine falcon which is an important indicator species. Its carefully recorded population trends can be instructive about ecosystem health. The program closely monitor the occupancy and productivity of peregrine falcons at approximately twenty-five nests in our Greater San Francisco Bay study area, and they band nestlings at a sample of those sites to learn more about the longevity, nest site tenacity, and juvenile dispersal patterns of Central California peregrine falcons. Citizen scientists around the bay report sightings of banded falcons. This artist, Alexandra Sanders known as LadyWhoLovesBirds, shows her work at the UCSC Long's Marine Lab Seymore Discovery Center. This design is part of a series that has been made into cards for the Discovery Center.
